Observation and Reflection from a Typhoon

Typhoon Vincente made landfall at 4am, after the Hong Kong Observatory issued  10 hurricane signal  for the first time since 1999.Vincente make 140 people had been injured during the night, including 71 admitted to hospitals, including one who was in serious condition.

 

 

 HAHA!!My father told me that he haven’t experienced this for 10 years. I could hardly walk, the wind kept pushing him.

 

 

 

I think most agree that the incident was a result of an accident.  It's quite rare that fallen trees could disrupt power supply.

 

Hundreds of passengers were stranded in trains and stations along the MTR Corporation . East Rail line overnight after a tree collapse hit a power supply unit near the Tai Po Market station around 11pm, causing a failure in its power network. Eight northbound trains had to be stopped midway at Fo Tan, short of their destination of Sheung Shui.

 

The passengers could only finish their journeys seven hours after they had boarded the train when services resumed around 6am. They said they were not happy the MTR failed to arrange buses to take them to their destinations.

 

 I think the passengers are very selfish , arrange buses to take them to their destinations in the No.10 hurricane signal ?Who can promise all the passengers and the frontline staff's safe? You know ,safety is of prior importance ! I did not think that they do a wrong thing.The MTR has tried their best to put the safety of passengers first ,so stay at MTR stations is the best arrangement. Also, at some stations, passengers were given $200 if they were able to catch a taxi for their destination. because the disruption came rather suddenly, and we were, the whole city was in a period of very bad weather, so in my opinion, the staff of the MTRCL, the frontline staff, they have tried their best to cope with the crisis.

On July 23, 150 tons of the pellets fell off a ship during the typhoon..Local environmental groups worry that the pellets could absorb toxins and pollutants before being eaten by fish, making their way up the food chain and posing a threat to humans and rare marine species such as the Chinese white dolphin. I am very happy to see that after the incident was reported by media and environmental groups, over 100 local residents gathered to pick up the pellets from the beach voluntarily.

Cooking, Food and Love

    Do you like cooking? YES!YES!YES! I love cooking very very very much . My first encounter with cooking was my seven year old's birthday, I made a fruit salad with my mother."2 glassfuls of strawberry.......Mum!! I forget to wash the strawberries.""It's ok , dear,wash the strawberries now." That was my first time , please don't angry with a little girl.When I was ten years old ,I entered a cook-off , I needed to make  Lobster sauce ribs ,  I was unlucky and really dejected about I draw out to use a cooker foe cooking.I never gave up ,I made Lobster sauce ribs for the cooker , but now I  still really surprise that I got the second place at the end product.

  

    My father was a cook in a Shanghai's restaurant, he is really good at do Shanghai cuisine ,like Steamed Pork Dumplings ,Features roast eel and horn oil paste eels.My father love cooking but he did not have much too teach me how to cook Shanghai cuisine , so I am really look forward to Chinese New Year every year , because my Dad has time to teach me for cooking  at Chinese New Year .

    I always research  recipes in my free time , learn and  try to cook it. I love Korea's food , Chinese food and spaghetti .

    It taste good :) (my  favourite Korea's food ) It's not a spicy food and the main point is it's really easy to do.

Chinese food - SPICY GARLIC EGGPLANT

    Deep-fry eggplant in hot oil is the main point , Deep-fry the eggplant's skin in hot oil can keeep the eggplant's luster.Also Stir-fry minced pork in 1 tbsp oil , no need to add to mush oil for pork.(Thank you me dad provide this information for me:P )

 Spaghetti

 

    Do you know that before you put the spaghetti into the boiling water,turn off the fire and put the lid on the pot to roast it for 5 mins,you need to add some salt into the water , that make the spaghetti have some flavor itself.

 

    I believe that cooking can bring people closer. Because of cooking ,our friendship is beginning to close .I am really happy to see my family's facial expression after they ate the dinner which I cook. I love cooking because cooking always bring happyiness for me and I love the process of research recipes.

My Learning Experience - Joy and Challenges

    I am very admire the two physically challenged students , they had review for six hours every day. My primary school classmate Amy has Dyslexia[1] , but she is very strive , they had review for many times every day .Now she study in Diocesan Girl's School.Their hard learning process proves that Genius is 1 percent of inspiration and 99 percent of hard-working ,no one can get something for nothing.

  "None of my inventions came by accident. I see a worthwhile need to be met and I make trial after trial until it comes. What it boils down to is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration." Thomas Alva Edison said.

 

     I hated the old-fashioned teaching method. I disliked learning before I run into a subject called Tourism and Hospitality Studies. Tourism and Hospitality Studies is a my favorite subject now, because I can learnt with taste , because of this subject ,I got many joy and challenges  experience of learning. I am more enjoy learning now, hope I can defeat my lazy. -3- I admit ,I has poor endurance. I always gives up what my planned in halfway. Can anyone help me? (= =leave me alone)

Table Manner

    Last year, we had a chance to learn about Table Manner. It was a amazing experience. As we know that Table manners refers to the etiquette used while eating ,which may also include the appropriate use of utensils, different cultures observe different rules for table manners. I thought Table Manner are very complex ,but learning table manner can to be more befitting and highly-cultivated. Excluding taught us how to appropriate use of utensils, we also learnt how to appropriate place of utensils.

 

 

Visited Institute For Tourism Studies

 

 

     Here is a good place that the student can have practical training about hotel’s serve, such as keep the quilt unfolded or clean the hotel’s room quickly. I was lucky to come in contact with visitors from this trip, and learnt many skill to please the visitors. Services are intangible and insubstantial: they cannot be touched, gripped, handled, looked at, smelled, tasted, it was a very good experience for me.

    For me ,I can't give any truth for all of you guy , but I can tell you that if you enjoy learning , you can get a good effect.

My first encounter with African Culture ( Music and Dance) - African Drum .

 African Drum & Music  ?

The majority of African music relies heavily on the playing of drums. It is also characterized by an intense rhythmic playing styleThe use of musical instruments and body parts, the powerful dances as well as the beautiful songs presents a special visual and sensational experience to the audiences. . Every move expresses the unique cultural significance; it is more than simply an entertainment.Elsewhere the drum is the sign of life: its beat is the heartbeat of the community.

 
     All the Form 5 student had a African Drum Session in 27th June .It was  really a special and interesting experience for me ,because it's my first encounter with African music .I had contact African Drum before ,but , it's  my first time to learn African music , Dance with an African .  The Drum is genuine African Drum ,and 27th afternoon was very hot. Haha ,can you imagine an African taught some secondary student African music with African Drum in a hot environment ? Yes , you are right! It was a fresh attempt , just like playing the African Drum in African . Hey , three-dimensional wasn't it?


     I am really surprised  about an African taught  us how to play the African Drum and used the drum to   had a musical performance. "Woooo~~Summer to summer... Woooo~~Summer to summer" The African led us to enjoy  the African music and  play the drum , so we did not follow him,because we felt very hot and shy at first . But we all enjoyed it at midway ,  I amexcited to see the principal and Mr. Wu joining the group and showing their talent in dancing the ‘African’ way , their  ‘African dance ’ had the student in hysterics and felt very high !Does anyone has picture illustrations of the principal’s and Mr. Wu’s ‘dance’ ?

                                                             
     We always say that my best friend Mango's skin is darker , so she went to take photo with the African teacher , and want to show us she is not tanned .Do you feel better now? Haha, actually ,we just kidding , she is not dark skin  and we took photo with  the African teacher because we really enjoyed to play the drums ,we just want to say thank you for him.



                                                           

     I had little bit frustrate about I could not visit Mr.Yu to perform his ‘African dance ’ , he ran very fast when I want to visit him .Anyway, African Drum is very amazing right? :) I want to play the African Drum now ! UM ,very hot ....... maybe we can playing the African Drum with air conditioner next time?
